Melissa L. Sevigny is a freelance science writer, poet, and author of three nonfiction books, most recently Brave the Wild River, winner of a National Outdoor Book Award and Reading the West award. Her work focuses on the intersections of science, nature, and history, and has appeared on NPR and in the New York Times, Orion, and High Country News. In her spare time she hikes, gardens, and bakes sourdough bread. She lives in Flagstaff, Arizona.
