Julian Hoffman

Julian Hoffman was born in England and grew up in Canada. In 2000 he moved with his wife Julia to live beside the Prespa Lakes in northern Greece. Julian’s writing and photography explore the connections between people, place, and nature. His book, The Small Heart of Things: Being at Home in a Beckoning World, was chosen by Terry Tempest Williams as the winner of the 2012 AWP Award Series for Creative Nonfiction, going on to win a National Outdoor Book Award in 2014 for Natural History Literature. His latest book, Irreplaceable: The Fight to Save Our Wild Places, was published in 2019. Along with winning the 2011 Terrain.org Nonfiction Prize and two Pushcart Prize nominations, his writing has appeared in EarthLines, Among Animals, Lush Times, Southern Humanities Review, Kyoto Journal, Flyway, and The Redwood Coast Review.
