Janisse Ray

Janisse Ray is the author of the classic environmental memoir Ecology of a Cracker Childhood and a dozen other books that explore nature and place. She is a creative entrepreneur. She has won an American Book Award, New York Times Notable Book, Pushcart Prize, Southern Bookseller Award, Southern Environmental Law Center Writing Award, Nautilus Award, and Eisenberg Award, among many others. She teaches live online writing workshops and courses, including Magical Craft of Creative Nonfiction. She is the author of Craft and Current: A Manual for Magical Writing, a guide that addresses both craft and the deeper, mystical sources of creativity.
